Training Courses
Maximising ROI on Training Investment
Category: Talent Management
Course level: Intermediate
In house
For every £1000 invested in sending someone on a training course, how much value is realised in the workplace? All the research suggests it is only about £200. The rest is wasted because the learning from the course has not been transferred to work.
There could be several reasons for this, which start well before the course and finish long after it, and involve many parties. It certainly requires more than the manager having a brief chat before and after the course!
This 2-hour workshop is designed to provide managers with an understanding of why more learning is not transferred, so that they can apply the lessons at work. In this way, the workshop will improve a firm’s return from training investment.
Objectives
By the end of the workshop, delegates will:
- understand the principles that underlie the transfer of learning and identify specific actions that will improve it
- be able to draw up a plan for at least one course delegate
- be able to identify the issues concerned with ‘re-entry’ to the workplace after a course
- The business will experience an increase in the return on its investment in training
- There will be greater retention and application of learning
- Learners will be more motivated to learn because they will know it will make a difference
- Off-the-job training can play a more significant role in management development
Length
2 hoursCourse Content
