Training Courses
Transfer of Learning for L&D Managers
Category: Talent Management
Course level: Intermediate
For every £1000 invested in sending someone on a training course, how much value is realised in the workplace? All the research suggests it is only about £200. The rest is wasted because the learning from the course has not been transferred to work.
There could be several reasons for this, which start well before the course, finish long after it and involve many parties. It certainly requires more than the manager having a brief before and after the course!
This 2-hour briefing is designed to provide L&D professionals with an understanding of why more learning is not transferred, and to consider what could be done in their businesses. In this way, the briefing will contribute to improving the return a business gets from its training investment.

By the end of this briefing, L&D managers will:
- understand the principles underlying the transfer of learning and be able to identify specific actions that will improve it
