Training Courses
Transfer of Learning
Category: Talent Management
Course level: Intermediate
In house
The purpose of this one-day workshop is to increase the return on the investment in off-the-job training.
Business units who send delegates on this course generally will experience an increase in the ROI in training because there will be greater retention and application of learning. Alternatively, those who do nothing could lose up to 80% of that same investment!
Attendees are more motivated to learn because they have seen what a difference training can make in their every-day work experience.
Objectives
By the end of the workshop, delegates will:
- understand the principles that underlie the transfer of learning and be able to identify specific actions that will improve it
- be able to draw up a plan for at least one course participant
- be able to identify the issues concerned with ‘re-entry’ to the workplace after a course
Length
1 dayCourse Content
- Feedback on research carried out in a global insurance provider and leading business schools
- Exploration of the underlying reasons for the poor return on investment for training courses
- The pre-training, during training and post-training model
- Each delegate will write a plan for at least one member of their team to maximise the return from a training course
In keeping with the ethos of this workshop, we will contact all delegates before the workshop to obtain their learning outcome statements and descriptions of their experiences of poor learning transfer.
There will be some pre-course reading required.
This course would be suitable for:
- HR and training
