The European Commission has published a provisional version of its Communication on "Ensuring efficient, safe and sound derivatives markets: Future policy actions" which sets out policy actions to increase transparency of the derivatives market, reduce counterparty and operational risk in trading and enhance market integrity and oversight.
The Commission expects to come forward with legislative proposals in 2010.
